The Role of Professional and Private Sector in strengthening CDC programme

Public health problem including commmunicable diseases control programme is not only a government responsibility. All other sector in the community have to participate to be able to get a best result.
For the goverment site, several guideline for management of communicable diseases has already been set up, either based on public health point of view or international bodies recomendation.
In fact, quite a number of patients will be taking care by a private doctor, either GP or specialist in their private office.
Some -or even most- of these GP doctors are also government employee working in Puskesmas or other health fascility, but unfortunately, they may use different approach while taking care their patients in their private office.
On the other hand, some specialist may also will not follow guideline set by the government for CDC programme especially if they thought that it is different with their understanding of diseases
pathophysiology and it's treatment.
To be able to get optimal result of CDC programme, various doctors taking care of patients in this particular field should have a same basic understanding,same basic approach for the mutual benefit.

 

Communication should always be maintained among CDC managers in paiticular area and doctors which handling patients in that area.
Several option of communication are in the field of :
- Meeting between CDC manager and specialist doctors before CDC program started and regular meeting during implementation time. These specialist could also ask to be participated in supervision and evaluation of the programme
- Seminar or panel discussion where all doctors in the area are invited It is better if experts from big University can also be invited to share their latest knowledges on the particular diseases
discussed.
Usualy statement from University lecturer with their scientific proof from several literature has a strong impact for doctors working in the periphery.
- Regular infomation distributed to doctors in the area, either through bulletin, news-letter or other approach.
- Every doctor who have a private practice can be ask to participated in CDC programme so the coverage of the programme could be expanded by using the available resources . Of course the system will be depend on the policy for every particular disease and the ability and willingness of the private doctors.
